Ulafa'a Initiative is proud to present our upcoming exhibition "Semicolon" on the 12th of May. It will be the first art exhibition at "Bait Alsalmaniya" a new creative hub in Bahrain. We hope to see you all there!

Ulafa’a presents Semicolon, an exhibition of artists exploring different forms of communication and how they can be manipulated to express an ‘in-between’ of a space, place, or time.

Semicolons signify something that fits in-between; it is a stronger break than a comma, but not as final as a full stop. A link and a separation. This curved punctuation embodies the second before dawn breaks, a pause for breath, a waiting room.

A chance to look back by Mohamed Alaabar

Just wanted to reflect some thoughts through this post.

Sometimes you realize how much effort and love you put when you look back at work you put with honesty.

The exhibition was a success despite all the challenges faced, from time constrains and resources. Nevertheless, Birmingham school of art and the team and artist was supportive and made this event happen.

These are pictures from the event ( all images were obtained through Ulafaa's website)

This year has also been productive, including new mediums , new color pallets , film photography and so traveling, i guess ill leave many of these to new upcoming posts.

for now i leave you with a teaser of Ulafaa's new upcoming exhibition posters:

Riwaq last days by Mohamed Alaabar

Alriwaq art space , which was located in adlyiah has its own significance among artists or the art community , both locally or internationally.

This space managed to give to Bahrain a lot through art exhibition and events which nourished the area and made block 338 in Manama what it is, artistic and colorful. An example that art can integrate with the public and government bodies.

To pay tribute to the space a couple of artist decided to leave their mark on alriwaq walls.

This is my contribution as a collaboration  with the lovely talented artist Ali Hussain, one of Bahrain’s youngest successful painters who utilized his background in theater into his visual work.

First image is a panorama of our work facing a piece made by my partner in crime Huvil.

Now pictures and details of the work

Ulafa's initiative in partnership with Birmingham's School of arts is happy to announce "I am Khaleeji" project; a prelude to contemporary art scene of the Gulf. This project will start in parallel with Ulafaa's traveling exhibition "By the Book". It is of a great importance for us to promote our Bahraini art scene to a global audience... Please help us spread the word!
